Around this time last year I was hearing a rave about pattern mixing. The idea of mixing patterns seemed very odd to me. All I could think of was maybe the person could not figure out what to wear and just went with both patterns, or maybe it is something that the fashion world has put out there as a new "trend"....just being honest. But, as I began to do some searching and saw how some people were mixing patterns it really didn't seem that bad. I decided to step out of my box once again and experiment with pattern mixing. That is where this outfit comes in. I decided to mix this striped skirt that I purchased last year by ELOQUII. This skirt is no longer in stock, but they have a similar pattern available in a pencil skirt. I decided to pair this striped pattern with these very cool, super fabulous heels by Gwen Stefani, and I added a touch of color with this sea foam colored blouse by THE LIMITED.
I was thinking about how "strange" pattern mixing can be to some and okay with others. I also thought about how the representation of my faith can seem strange to some and okay to others. I get a lot of questions as to why I wear skirts all of the time. I've also come across some who have bashed me, talked about me, and think I am plain crazy just because I choose to live a modest life. Some think I am apart of a religion where I am "forced" to wear what I wear. That is so NOT the case. I am very capable of thinking clearly and making sound, wise decisions. I embrace my modest life, and think that there is nothing classier than wearing a fabulous skirt, blouse, and heels!!!! Besides, being modest is only a fraction of what God requires of me. It is not only about wearing a skirt, it is about me living a life according to the commandments that God has put in place through his word (the bible) for me to do.
It is so important to know WHO you are and WHOSE you are. People will try to make you feel bad because of decisions that you make in life. If you decide to live your life to please or seek the approval of others you are not living, only existing. Learn how to live life for you, stand your ground, and be PECULIAR!!!!
